A Little Mixed Up

Emma is learning a lot about Jesus these days. Between her class at MOPS, Sunday School, and Wednesday night Cubbies program, she definitely knows a lot! She knows that Jesus died on the cross. She knows that he died for everyone. She knows that we are all sinners and that Jesus loves us. It's really sweet to see how much she knows. Every time she sees a cross, she says, "Mommy, that's Jesus died on the cross for us!"

So yesterday she was sharing her wealth of information with her little sister. I heard her telling all she knew about Jesus. Then she switched over to talking about Grandma and Grandpa and going to visit them sometime at their house. And here is what I heard her say:

"Ellie, we are going to visit Grandpa and Grandma soon. (Not true, but ok....) They don't have a dog anymore. No, we can't see Murphy anymore. Murphy died on the cross."

Excuse me? The dog died on the cross? Believe me, it was really hard to hold back the laughter. I went into her room and gently explained that Jesus was the only one who died on the cross. I know that's not quite historically accurate, plenty of other people were crucified in the time of Christ as well. But we're dealing with a 3 year old here. And a 3 year old's concept of death and dying is, well, interesting to say the least.

Just wanted to share one of the many moments of my day. You know, those moments where you catch yourself smiling and shaking your head. You never know what's going to come out of Emma's mouth!

REALLY funny!!!
Yeah, you know our puppy...that we just adopted...and just got Solomon used to...yeah, well, he just died of Parvo today. It was awful. Sorry to put such a sad comment on your blog. I'll have to think of something funny next time, but I'm sure nothing will be quite as funny as this post.

Thanks for cheering me up!
