A Walk in the Park

Today was such a gorgeous day that we decided to head off for our first trip to the park this season. Todd took the girls there yesterday, but today we went as a family. This has got to be one of my favorite things to do during the warmer months. I know I've written about it before, but this park is only 2 miles from our house, and it's FANTASTIC!

The girls were ready to play as soon as we got there, but we told them we were walking first and then they could play. There are 7 miles of paved trails and we walked 2.4 miles of them today! After being cooped up in an 800 square foot apartment all winter, I can't even begin to describe how wonderful this was! The sun was shining, the air was warm. We all had such a great time.

There is a small river (more of a creek) that runs next to the entire length of the trails. The river is full of ducks and geese, and the girls had fun watching them swim. Ella really wanted to get out of the stroller, so we let them both just run the trails. I don't think Ella stopped running for at least a quarter of a mile. She loved it! Emma ran too, but she's in a whiny stage these days, so she quickly got tired of walking and rode on the back of the stroller.

After the walk, the girls were rewarded with a trip to the playground. As you can see from the pictures, they had a blast!
