Camping

Emma's first time roasting marshmallows

Me and Ella, hanging out on the porch swing.

This weekend we went camping as a family. We went to the booming town of Fenwick, MI with 4 other families from our small group at church. Dispite having two small children, we actually had a lot of fun! Seriously, it was so great to get away as a family and get rid of some of the busy-ness of life.

Since we are not so adventurous, we chose to camp in a cabin. It was pretty rustic-just one room with a double bed and a set of bunkbeds. We set up the pack-n-play for Ella. It was set in a nice wooded area, which was pretty private-only 3 other cabins nearby. The weekend was spent lighting fires, swimming, lighting fires, roasting marshmallows, lighting fires, playing on the playground, and lighting fires again!! I ate my first hotdog in probably the last millennium (shhh, don't tell) and it wasn't that bad!

Overall, I think we had a great time. I'm looking forward to doing it again next summer. The girls will be a bit older and Ella will be able to join in the fun a little more. She was just itching to get down and dirty in the gravel surrounding our cabin. I, on the other hand, was not so eager to have her do that! Anyway, I'm sure this is just the 1st of many camping trips to come.

Fun, fun, fun!! Anything has to be better than those TMI tents and the Florida humidity! I'm jealous-I want to go camping together (or cabinning..)
Glad you guys got to get away and have a little vacation!
