Confession is good for the soul

I don't know about you, but I'm not one to swear. Sure, I grew up saying things like, "Oh my gosh!" and "Darn it!", but those were the worst of them. I take that back, I think I dabbled in swearing in junior high, you know, to be cool and all. But anway, I digress.

So what is it about laundry that brings out the worst in me. I don't know, something about dragging every living piece of clothing and bedding we own downstairs while holding the hand of a 3 year old in one hand and carrying a one year old in the other while lugging a 15-gallon jug of Tide by my big toe just leads me to the occasional explative.

A few weeks ago I had made it to the top of the stairs with the laundry basket, the roll of quarters, Ella, and my keys in my hand. (And why does it take Emma 10 minutes longer than usual to get up the stairs when I've got my hands full?) I dropped my keys while trying to open my door, not once, not twice, but 3 TIMES! Now is the time that you are asking yourself, "Why didn't she put something down while trying to open the door?" Well, you have to realize that the second I put Ella down, she makes a bee-line for the stairs, climbs to the top, and begins knocking on our neighbor's door, all before I can get my key in the door my my laundry basket inside. Whew!

ANYWAY, (yes, we are finally to the point) after dropping my keys for the 3rd time, I quietly said, DAMMIT! Ok, I NEVER say this word, mainly because I don't want my 3-year old parrot to repeat what she hears. But it just slipped out. And guess what Emma yelled 2 seconds later? DAMMIT! DAMMIT! I could only shake my head and tell her that Mommy shouldn't have said that word and that it's not a nice word to be going around saying. Thankfully she hasn't repeated it since then. But I know it's in that precious head of hers, just waiting to come out at the most excruciatingly embarrassing moment.

Speaking of this same topic, I read
this a few minutes ago and it got me thinking of the story I just shared. Go read it. I was laughing so hard I was in tears and nearly falling of my chair.

That's too funny...looking back of course! My Mary and I had a conversation today about that very thing! I told her a really funny story about her big sister when she was little that involved cursing and a tape recorder!

I love the story you tell cursing. Benjamin is like a parrot also. He will be 4 on May 14th. Thanks for stopping by!!

Sometimes you just have to put on a juggling act, don't you? I can sure understand why that word popped out. And Antique Mommy is hysterical.

By the way, you asked about my breakfast burrito recipe and I can't remember if I answered you, but yes, I did a BIG post about it. It's in my archives - October 20th was the post. I think about a million people out here have made them since I posted the recipe. They're very good. :-)
